In the latest episode Concealed Media sat down with recording artist and entrepreneur King Suave’. During the interview we touch on everything from his latest music, his upcoming book, the time he spent incarcerated, his clothing line and much more.

A native of Washington, D.C. King Suave’ said he grew up listening to Go-go, a sub-genre of funk music with an emphasis on specific rhythmic patterns, and live audience call and response. He said it took him a while to catch on to other genres of music, like hip-hop. but once he started rapping and started understanding the culture his music started to take off.

“One of homeboys from New York introduced me to rap because he was doing it in his spare time and I said, ‘I can do that’, but I didn’t understand that you have to tell your story,” he said. “Once I understood what the culture was about it made my journey tougher and easier. Tougher because making music that comes from your soul is really different than just putting a couple of lines down. I’m really trying to touch people.”
